UNION BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY

Union Baptist Church Cemetery is an African American cemetery located on the grounds of the Union Baptist Church, a Missionary Baptist congregation, approximately 3.5 miles north of the Alabama-Mississippi state line along U.S. Highway 69 in Lowndes County.  The cemetery is present on the west and east sides of the church building.  The graves on the east side are the oldest and there is evidence that many more graves than stones are on the east side.  Only one person buried on the east side cemetery bearing a stone by his grave was born during slavery.

There are three World War I veterans and one Vietnam veteran buried in this cemetery.
